Norman Otis Weatherford – The Covington Information

Norman Otis Weatherford, affectionately often known as Otis to his family and friends, handed away on December 21, 2024, on the age of 77 in Conyers, Georgia, forsaking a legacy of laughter, kindness, and an unparalleled sense of camaraderie. Born on October 5, 1947, in Ashville, North Carolina to Annie and Melzer Weatherford, Otis grew to be a pillar of his group, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of his firm. Otis can be lovingly remembered for his lifetime spent as a barber, a profession that spanned a unprecedented 61 years and allowed him to weave his personal tapestry of tales and jokes into the group. Outdoors of the barbershop, he was typically discovered at his produce stand in Oxford or indulging in his love of taking part in playing cards. His associates will fondly recall his nice humorousness, and relations will cherish the recollections of his heat, booming laughter at gatherings. His dad and mom, Annie and Melzer Weatherford; sister, Vida Lee Johnson; and brother, Delma Weatherford, preceded Otis in loss of life. He’s survived by a household who adores him: his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Jason McCrackin; his son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Kim Weatherford; his grandchildren, Megan Sorrells, Craig Weatherford, Justin Autry, Jaron Autry, and Abby McCrackin; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews. Every will miss his form and selfless nature—traits that made Otis the epitome of a real good friend and a cherished household man. Otis’s love for historical past and other people enriched his storytelling, and his absence can be profoundly felt by the various lives he touched. His reminiscence will proceed to encourage these he left behind, to reside every day with a spirit as beneficiant and pleasant as his personal.

A Funeral Service for Otis can be held Friday, December 27, 2024, 1:00 P.M., on the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Entry Highway, in Covington, with Pastor Larry Clayton and Steve Horton officiating and interment following in Sewell Church Cemetery.
